Lesson to introduce personality adjectives with Y7 (they've already done loads of work on agreements for colours and physical description, so not that much time spent on it here).\n\nGoes with Expo 1 and does refer to reading and listening activities from it, but hopefully some of the slides will be useful even if you don&'t use this textbook.

Goes with Mira 1, Module 2 (refers to listening exercises from the textbook, but there's plenty of useful stuff on the slides if you don&'t have access to this).\n\nMy class are Y9 beginners Spanish, but this would be equally suitable for Y7.\n\nLesson 1 - using cognates to work out school subjects, listening, writing about what subjects you study/don&';t study.\n\nLesson 2 - vocab recap pic reveal, days of the week, reading.\n\nLesson 3 - gender, listening, adjectives, using dictionary, opinion phrases.

UPDATE: Added version for a more able group, including reading task. \n\nGoes with Expo 2 Vert, Module 3, Unit 1 'Tu veux sortir?' Covers 3 lessons with a low ability Y8 group. \n\n1st lesson - activities/infinitives. Slide 4 is a sheet to print off. Forming Qs with 'tu veux', speaking activity.\n\n2nd lesson - reading task. Understanding more detailed messages with meeting place, time, etc.\n\n3rd lesson - writing own invitation. Extension work on French text speak.

Lesson to prepare a bottom set Y9 group for writing about future plans. \n\nSettling starter (wordsearch) followed by team activity to practise using a word mat to write developed sentences.\n\nPupils work in small groups with a mini-whiteboard and a word mat. A sentence appears on the board in English and they have to translate it (most of what they need is in the word mat). \n\nThe team with the most complete answer when the time stops gets a point.

French Christmas traditions activity for the end of term.\n\nTo be done as a treasure hunt / kind of running dictation activity.\n\nPowerpoint slides printed 2 per sheet, cut up and stuck around classroom walls.\n\nGrid between 2-3 pupils. I pupil at a time per team can get up and look at the pictures, bringing back information (the French caption) to fill in the grid.

Pictures cut out and stick around the room.\n\n1 grid between 2-3 pupils. 1 pupil per team can get up and bring back information to fill in the grid (fill in with the Spanish captions from under the pictures).\n\nExtension (especially if using with KS4) - cards with Spanish descriptions to match up. \n\nPowerpoint gives some clues to help with extension, then goes through answers, then has a quiz to finish.

Reading tasks with grid to complete - the one in 2 tenses was aimed at a bottom set Y9 class and the one in 3 tenses was aimed at a middle/high set. But I'm planning to use the 2 tense one with Year 8s too. More or less the same task, so could be given out in the same class for differentiation.

Used with Y9 bottom set beginners Spanish - equally suitable for Y7 Spanish. \n\nTrue or false to recap colours.\nGive out sheet and pupils use prior knowledge to complete as much as possible. Can use dictionaries or just do a bit then go through answers and fill in gaps for corto/largo/liso/rizado etc. \n\nReading task - understand the sentences and draw pictures based on them.

Several weeks worth of powerpoint slides following Expo 3 Vert Module 2 (L'avenir).\n\nStarts with on va + infinitive, mostly talking about free time.\nThen introduces rest of aller, and focuses on je vais + infinitive for writing a timeline of future plans at different ages. \n\nHave also included a few worksheets.

Various resources for low ability Y8 class. \n\nFollows Expo 2 Vert. \n\nA few weeks of powerpoint slides + worksheets and other resources used in class.\n\nThe reading task (Reading A and Reading B) was sent out to pupils electronically so some had the underlined version to give them hints.

Introducing and using colours creatively with Year 7, based on poems by French primary children found online.\n\nLesson 1: Presentation of colours and opinions.\n\nLesson 2: Reading a poem, highlighting key features (nouns, adjectives), discussing similes. Pupils write first couplet of poem.\n\nLesson 3: Preparing for independent working - dictionary skills, how to know if a word is masculine or feminine. Adjectival agreements. Continue drafting poem.\n\n1 or 2 more lessons needed to produce display work.
